Becoming a Horizon homeowner is easier than you think. Just follow these key steps and you’ll be packing in no time.
1) Select Your New Home
After choosing your floor plan and lot, you will be asked to fill out a pre-qualification form. Once you are pre-qualified, you will meet again to sign your purchase agreement.
2) Complete Your Loan Paperwork
Speak with a loan officer to determine which loan is best for you. Be sure you fill out your loan documents as quickly as possible so you don’t delay your approval.
3) Choose Your Options
Depending on the stage of your home’s construction, you may have an opportunity to select certain options. Contact your sales associate regarding what is available.
4) Select Your Flooring
Your design consultant will call you for an appointment to visit the design center and choose your flooring. Don’t forget to bring fabric swatches of your furniture to match colors.
5) Make Sure Your Loan Paperwork Is in Order
Prior to close of escrow, the lender will run another credit report and verifications. This is not the time to go on a spending spree or change jobs because it could jeopardize your loan.
6) Arrange for Your Homeowner’s Insurance
After loan approval, shop for homeowner’s insurance. You must provide the escrow company proof that you have insurance.
7) Take a Tour of Your New Home
Join the superintendent for a tour of your home during construction. You’ll learn about
the quality features in our homes and review any options you have chosen.
8) Get Ready to Move
Your sales associate will give you an estimated completion date. Schedule the movers and begin packing. You’re almost there!
9) Inspect Your Finished Home
Your walk-through is a comprehensive tour of your new home where you will learn about various features and appliances. If any touch-up work needs to be done, a second walk-through will be scheduled.
10) Sign Your Final Loan Documents
The escrow officer will ask you to come in and finalize your loan. Be prepared to bring a cashier’s check for the closing amount.
11) Enter the Home Stretch
After you have finished signing your final loan documents and the loan has funded, the title to your home will be recorded in your name at the County Recorder’s office.
